The Oregon Ducks have wrapped up their final football game as part of the Pac-12 conference. When they suit up next, they’ll proudly display the Big Ten emblem on their jerseys. While the transition to the Big Ten has been confirmed for months, there are still adjustments in store for Oregon Football in the upcoming 2024 season. One significant change is the schedule, as they’ll now face off against powerhouse teams like Michigan and Ohio State in addition to their traditional rivals. Oregon head coach Dan Lanning recently discussed the upcoming season on the Oregon Football Coaches’ show, addressing whether there will be any shifts in approach for him or the team due to the conference switch.

“Yeah, the process is really the same for us as a coaching staff,” Lanning said. “We’re kind of at this point where you haven’t had a chance to really go back and revisit what happened within the season. So we’re evaluating us first. It’ll start with where can we get better? Where can we improve what we do really well? What do we not do so well? And then attack that. And then we’ll probably get with some staffs and try to plug some ideas that we think might fit and then starting to deep dive into a study of what we’re going to be facing moving forward and what those teams look like.”

Even before taking the field in their new conference, the Oregon Ducks are making waves in the Big Ten. In the 2024 recruiting cycle, they secured their most impressive recruiting class ever, ranking third nationally and claiming the top spot within the Big Ten, trailing only Georgia and Alabama. Adding to their high-profile entry into the Big Ten, Oregon snagged two standout recruits: Jeremiah McClellan, a 4-star wide receiver who had initially committed to Ohio State, and Gatlin Bair, a 5-star WR who was originally projected to join Michigan.

While Dan Lanning has encountered challenges as head coach, notably in defeating arch-rival Washington Huskies, next season presents a prime opportunity. With Kalen DeBoer’s departure to Alabama, the upcoming matchup against the Huskies offers the Ducks their best chance yet under Lanning’s leadership. Furthermore, the move to the Big Ten means the Cascade Clash will now be held after Thanksgiving during rivalry weekend, adding even more intensity to the annual showdown
