ATLANTA FALCONS

3 Falcons who lost their job during the 2024 NFL Draft.

A new generation of youthful talent emerges every season, forcing the older players into retirement. Just consider all of the draft selections you were told about over the weekend; the majority of those players merely assumed the role of an older player.

Eight selections were made by the Falcons in the NFL Draft of 2024. If the Falcons choose to use the emergency third-quarterback rule this season, their first-round selection didn’t necessarily cost a player his job, but their other selections most definitely did.

These three Falcons players were swapped out during the draft.

Ta’Quon Graham lost his job after the drafting of Ruke Orhorhoro & Brandon Dorlus

Ta’Quon Graham has carved out a nice career with the Atlanta Falcons after being a late-round draft pick. Remember, not too long ago, he was starting next to Grady Jarrett.

But his next step in his career may be out of the door following the strategy change and the selection of versatile defensive lineman Ruke Orhorhoro and Brandon Dorlus.

He is still skilled enough to play in this league, so even though his time in Atlanta may be done, he should be able to find a new team to sign him.

Eddie Goldman lost his job after the drafting of Zion Logue

After making his return to the Atlanta Falcons for a third time, Eddie Goldman might finally be ready to make a push for a roster spot.

Having said that, he was quite optimistic after witnessing the Falcons select Zion Logue with their last selection. The former Georgia Bulldog will play in the same spot as Eddie Goldman because of his massive frame in the middle.

Sadly for Goldman, the NFL values youth above everything else, which is why the 30-year-old should not be selected over the youthful nose tackle.

Ade Ogundeji lost his job after the drafting of Bralen Trice

The writing has been on the wall for Ade Ogundeji for a while now—the third-round selection of Bralen Trice only made that more true.

Right now, Ade Ogundeji is at the bottom of the depth chart. It is difficult to think that he is a better choice than DeAngelo Malone, Arnold Ebiketie, Bralen Trice, or Lorenzo Carter, even though the position is tenuous.

Ogundeji was not good in 2022 when he was given a lot of playing time. He recently finished a season in which he did not play a single snap due to an injury that ended the season. If the former Notre Dame standout made the final roster, I would be amazed.
