49ers Sign Former QB of the Steelers

Pittsburgh Josh Dobbs, the former quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has agreed to terms on a contract with the San Francisco 49ers and is on his way there, according to his agent Mike McCartney. In the 2017 NFL Draft, the Steelers selected Dobbs, 29, in the fourth round. Before playing for the Jackson Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, and Minnesota Vikings, he was a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers for three years. Dobbs rose to prominence in the NFL last season, starting 12 games—eight with the Cardinals and four with the Vikings. Even though they finished 3–9, he gave both teams hope that he could occasionally take them farther than anticipated. He completed 62% of his throws in his 13 games, throwing for 2,464 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He performed as a player for the Steelers from

31 yards of rushing and 45 yards of throwing in six games. With $750,000 in incentives, he now signs a one-year contract worth $2.25 million with the 49ers. Sam Darnold’s free agency departure could present Dobbs with a chance to contend for a backup position behind Brock Purdy.
