It is truly amazing what Tyrese Maxey has accomplished to be acknowledged in 76ers history alongside Allen Iverson.

The Philadelphia 76ers have had a difficult season; in addition to Tyrese Maxey missing numerous games due to a concussion, Joel Embiid has been out of the lineup for the last 1.5 months. But with Embiid sidelined, Maxey was forced into action as the 76ers’ top option, and he more than met the challenge. Maxey had one of his best all-around performances to date on Monday night, leading the 76ers to a 98-91 victory over the Miami Heat with 30 points, eight rebounds, and ten assists.

Tyrese Maxey was able to establish a connection with one of the best 76ers players of all time, Allen Iverson, by scoring thirty points against the Heat. Maxey now has 20 30-point games this season, which is “the most by a player age 23 or younger” in 76ers history, having reached the record back in his rookie season (1996–97), as noted by ClutchPoints Twitter (X).

It indicates that Maxey has really established himself as a bonafide star for the 76ers to be named in the same sentence as Iverson. For the 23-year-old guard, the entire season has been a coming-out party. In addition to the aforementioned accomplishment, Maxey is on track to become just the third player in franchise history to average over 25 points and five assists in a single season, after Wilt Chamberlain and Iverson.

Since Joel Embiid hasn’t played in 11 of Maxey’s 20 30-point performances this season, his contributions are all the more remarkable considering the additional defensive attention he attracts when he’s the 76ers’ main scoring option. There’s no denying that Maxey is bearing a big load.
