Isaac Guerendo, a former running back for the Wisconsin Badgers, recently announced his intention to enter the 2024 NFL Draft following a standout season with the Louisville Cardinals and head coach Jeff Brohm.
“National Card Guerendo commented, “I want to begin by giving thanks to God for being by my side throughout every step of my journey.” None of this could have happened without him. I am grateful for the unwavering love and support I have received from my family and friends during this time. I express my gratitude to my teammates for the enduring connections and bonds we have formed. I am grateful for the chance to play at such a fantastic university, thanks to Coach Chryst and the University of Wisconsin. A Badger for Life!
Due to his invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium on February 29, Guerendo will now have the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities in front of NFL scouts in Indianapolis.
The Indiana native finished this past season with 810 yards and 11 touchdowns on 132 carries and 22 receptions for 234 yards, totaling 1,044 yards from scrimmage—all career highs. Guerendo was also Louisville’s leading kick returner, logging 11 returns for 211 yards.
In 2018, after receiving offers from the Air Force, Army, Ball State, and Eastern Michigan, wide receiver Isaac Guerendo first committed to the Wisconsin Badgers football program under head coach Paul Chryst.
After that, he moved into a running back position for the Badgers, where he had a standout 2022 season carrying for 385 yards and five touchdowns while replacing the injured Chez Mellusi. For a total of 500 yards from scrimmage, he also added 115 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Thanks to the increased chance in Lousiville, the former Wisconsin Badgers tailback converted his transfer to become eligible for the NFL. If he can put up some strong testing results at the combine, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a team take a chance on his game-changing speed and adaptability as a pass-catcher in the mid-to late rounds.
