The Chicago Bulls announced on Tuesday that Patrick Williams would miss at least two weeks due to an acute bone edema in his left foot, adding another chapter to a season marred by injuries to multiple important players.
Due to individual injuries, the Bulls are already without dependable forward Torrey Craig and All-Star guard Zach LaVine. Williams’ injury will force the Bulls to address their roster shortage while managing a period of time without several regular players.
No schedule for a comeback
Williams has a lengthy recovery, rehabilitation, and preparation period before making a comeback to the court. Bulls insider K.C. Johnson claims that Williams’ diagnosis indicates that fluid has been discovered in his bone marrow.
The fourth-year forward will be placed on active rest by the team, and his next course of action will be determined after an evaluation. The ideal situation would be for the Florida State player to fulfill all the requirements and be available for the Bulls’ first game following the All-Star break on February 22, which is against the Boston Celtics.
That’s the intention. After the break, there is still one more week. There will undoubtedly be extensive treatment. However, there’s no schedule. Additionally, there needs to be a ramp-up phase to observe his reaction following his vacation, Donovan added.
His foot is swollen a little. We will give it a few weeks to see how successfully they can resolve the situation. After nursing that for a few games, it became too painful for him to continue.
Craig will be back shortly.
Donovan will have to perform some roster acrobatics in light of these events, and he has already started to deploy young players like Dalen Terry and Julian Phillips. The Bulls would gain more by having Craig, who hasn’t played since December 16 because of a plantar fascia injury, back in the starting lineup.
