Four-star running back Byron Louis from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage recently attended the Miami Hurricanes’ Junior Day and is now set to visit Wisconsin this weekend. The 6-foot-0, 208-pound tailback is intrigued by Wisconsin’s reputation as “RBU” (Running Back University) and the offensive approach under head coach Luke Fickell. Louis highlighted that Wisconsin’s spread offense would benefit running backs and expressed optimism about the program’s future with the right quarterback.
Louis, who considers life after football important, is eager to explore Wisconsin’s development opportunities on and off the field. He praised the coaching staff, particularly running backs coach Devon Spalding, and is looking forward to understanding the Badgers’ vision for his future. Currently ranked as the No. 200 overall prospect and the No. 16 running back in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, Louis is part of a recruiting class that includes seven players. His visit to Wisconsin is seen as a crucial step in evaluating the program and its potential fit for his academic and athletic aspirations.
Miami and Ohio State are also vying for Louis
Some of the nation’s best collegiate football programs are vying for Louis in addition to Wisconsin. Among them are Miami and Ohio State, and he went on to detail his preferences for each of those universities.
Ohio State: “Everyone always assured me that I would love it before I went the first time,” Louis said to Lettermen Row on November 14. “They said it’s unbelievable, the people, the facility, the way they run the town, that it was all just different.” I think that everything I’ve been told has come true.
Miami: “They believe I’m the best running back in 2025 and they want me to lead the class,” Louis told CaneSport on Jan. 20. “They want me to start recruiting early, really, but you know, first off, for me to do that, I’d have to commit… (Mark Fletcher) is like my older brother. He’s always telling me The U wants me and I’m next up and I’m a believer in that.”
