GREEN BAY PACKERS
Report: Former Oregon State Beavers standout Sean Mannion leaves the NFL and becomes a member of the Green Bay Packers coaching staff.
Following his retirement from the NFL, Sean Mannion accepted a coaching role with the Green Bay Packers.
According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, the former Oregon State standout quarterback allegedly announced his retirement effective immediately and took a job as an assistant coach with the Packers, where he would work with the quarterbacks and passing game.
Although Mannion’s exact title is uncertain, he will collaborate with starter Jordan Love, who led the Packers to the postseason in 2023 and had a career season.
Mannion and Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur are acquainted because during the 2017 season, Mannion was the Los Angeles Rams’ backup quarterback and LaFleur was the offensive coordinator.
The Los Angeles Rams selected Mannion, 31, in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft (with selection No. 89). Throughout his career, Mannion made 14 appearances, starting three of them. In 2021, he made his most recent start with the Vikings.
Over the course of his nine-year career, Mannion played for the Rams, Minnesota Vikings, and Seattle Seahawks.
