North Melbourne Targets Experienced Players for 2025 Season

North Melbourne is making it clear that they are in the market for experienced talent as the 2024 off-season approaches. The Kangaroos have shown strong interest in bringing in seasoned players, with names like Sydney’s Luke Parker and Port Adelaide’s Ollie Wines on their radar.

Sydney defender Dane Rampe is also a potential target, as the Roos look to shore up their key defensive positions. Another name being linked to the club is West Coast’s veteran forward Jack Darling. His addition could provide both on-field leadership and much-needed support for Nick Larkey in the forward line. AFL Media’s Cal Twomey has hinted that it would be surprising if both Darling and Parker don’t end up in North Melbourne colors next season.

Although the Roos have pursued Port Adelaide’s Dan Houston, even offering a first-round draft pick, it seems unlikely that Houston will make the move to Arden Street. Despite that, North Melbourne’s off-season strategy remains aggressive, as they seek to strengthen their roster with seasoned talent to support their current lineup.

On the retention front, several key players, including Cam Zurhaar, Bailey Scott, Harry Sheezel, and Tristan Xerri, have all recommitted to the club, signaling a brighter future under head coach Alastair Clarkson. Their continued presence at the club shows that North Melbourne’s internal culture is improving, and their rebuilding process is gaining traction.

While experienced recruits remain a priority, the Roos are also expected to focus on the upcoming draft. By balancing veteran acquisitions with young talent, North Melbourne looks to position itself as a stronger, more competitive side in the 2025 season and beyond.
