The Warriors targets Eels’ Dylan Brown as Tohu Harris’ replacement, following the captain’s retirement

There are both immediate and long-term concerns regarding the New Zealand Warriors’ response to Tohu Harris’ tragic retirement. Dylan Brown is one player that has been frequently mentioned in relation to the New Zealand team.

Although he was “devastated” to have to declare his immediate retirement on Thursday, Warriors captain Harris said he was unable to continue due to a crippling wrist injury.

“I had high hopes of returning from the injury this year but I’m devastated I won’t get the chance to pull on the jersey again,” said Harris.

“I’m dealing with pain in everyday life as well as footy. My body has been feeling good in training but the reality is I can’t perform as a player with this injury.”

The Warriors now have some room under their salary limit because Harris had a contract till 2025. They have lost Addin Fonua-Blake to Cronulla and Shaun Johnson to retirement, but that has been offset by the important acquisition of James Fisher-Harris from Penrith.
In any case, there are rumors that the Warriors may try to recruit a big-name player with the extra cash that the retirements of Harris and Johnson have freed up. Additionally, since Brown was previously connected to the Warriors, his name has been floated as a major target.
