Center for the Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokic has praised Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs, saying the Frenchman will “change” the sport of basketball.
San Antonio chose Wembanyama with the first overall pick in the NBA draft this year.
Even though the rookie is still only 20 years old, Jokic predicted that Wembanyama’s effect will eventually become apparent during All-Star weekend.
Nikola Jokic, a center for the Denver Nuggets, has lauded San Antonio Spurs player Victor Wembanyama, claiming the Frenchman will “change” the game of basketball.
In this year’s NBA draft, San Antonio selected Wembanyama with the first overall pick.
Jokic anticipated that, even at just twenty years old, Wembanyama’s influence will eventually be seen during All-Star weekend.
“I think he’s going to change the game; we just need to give him time to see it through,” I’ve already stated.
Since entering the NBA this season, Wembanyama has averaged 20.5 points and 10 rebounds per game through 49 games.
Wembanyama had a respectable game against the reigning NBA Finals MVP in their lone face-to-face encounter of the season; on November 26, the Spurs lost 132-120 to Denver, and he finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
The rookie was unable to stop Jokic, who almost produced a triple-double with 39 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists, despite his strong offensive effort.
Wembanyama participated in his first Rising Stars Challenge on Friday night despite not being chosen for this year’s All-Star game.
Wembanyama’s performance was uneven; in the second of the three games played that evening, he scored 11 points, but in his first All-Star game, he lost.
Wembanyama made five of his six shots from the field, but he also made five mistakes.
