Michail Antonio, a forward for West Ham United, has publicly apologized to the players and supporters of Liverpool after his outrageous premonition about the Reds early in the season came back to haunt him.
Michail Antonio, a striker for West Ham United, has taken to social media to express his “public apology” to Liverpool supporters over his preseason prediction. After the Merseysiders’ terrible performance in the previous season, the Jamaican international boldly claimed that the Hammers would finish ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s team. However, he was forced to backtrack on his prediction.
Following a string of remarks made at the Anfield club in recent years, Antonio has grown to be a target for Liverpool supporters. Prior to their North West encounter in September of last year, the 33-year-old expressed confidence that David Moyes’ team might surpass Liverpool in the standings and cause the Reds to be disappointed.
The prognosis was made in the midst of Liverpool’s impressive run of play, which included an opening-day tie with Chelsea and four straight wins. But West Ham’s hopes were dashed as Liverpool triumphed 3-1 at Anfield. To continue their winning streak, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, and Mohamed Salah all scored goals.
The two teams will play each other again at the end of April. This will be their third encounter since their crushing of West Ham in the Carabao Cup. Additionally, the forward for the Hammers said that he regretted his bold prediction made earlier in the season in an interview with Footballer’s Football podcast.
“Before we move forwards I have got something to say,” he stated. “I made a statement at the start of the season.
It was a little crazy. It was so crazy. I hinted that West Ham would surpass Liverpool in the standings this year. To be honest, I stated that it was my chest.
They were not settling in at all, and I thought we would finish sixth or seventh. It was one of those instances where there were a lot of statistics about Klopp playing for seven or eight years and then having a slump.
“At the time, I was plainly deluded. I will therefore have to publicly apologize to the Liverpool players and supporters. I retract it.
