After police discovered cocaine valued at £660,000 during an M1 services stop, two brothers were sentenced to prison.
On June 1, 2023, West Yorkshire Police pulled over a Toyota C-HR driven by Klevis Lika at Woodall Services, which is located near Sheffield on the M1. Upon conducting a vehicle search, 22 kilograms of cocaine worth approximately £660,000.
When police investigated Lika’s home location, they discovered a significant quantity of cash and further drugs. After the discovery, Florin Lika, his brother, was also taken into custody and accused. Following the discovery of many kilograms of cocaine in a car halted at a motorway service station, the brothers were imprisoned for their involvement in the drug trade.
Klevis Lika, 28, of Wickham Road, Croydon, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court today, February 23, to receive a sentence. Lika had previously entered a guilty plea to possession with intent to supply a Class A prohibited substance, and had been imprisoned for thirteen and a half years.
Florin Lika, 23, of Wickham Road, Croydon, entered a guilty plea to possessing a Class A controlled substance with the intention of supplying it, and he was sentenced to nine years in prison.
The Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit (YHROCU) carried out the investigation. “This was a significant disruption of Class A drugs which were destined to be supplied in our communities,” Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit Detective Chief Inspector Al Burns said outside of court.
“We are happy that these two men have been incarcerated and we applaud the sentences that were given out today. The YHROCU’s officers will keep going after organized criminals whose deeds hurt the people of Yorkshire and the Humber.
