LATEST: After three months due to injury, goalie Joseph Woll is back with the Maple Leafs.
Goalie Joseph Woll has been called up by the Toronto Maple Leafs from his conditioning assignment with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, the NHL team announced on Monday.
In Friday’s 4-1 victory over the Marlies at Laval, Woll saved 36 of 37 shots.
It was the 25-year-old’s first time playing in a game since the Maple Leafs’ 4-3 victory over Ottawa on December 7 when he suffered a high ankle sprain.
Prior to the injury, Woll had an 8-5-1 record, a 2.80 goals-against average, and a.916 save percentage.
The Leafs’ previously erratic goalie situation has stabilized. Since going through a conditioning stint with the Marlies on January 1st and clearing waivers, starter Ilya Samsonov has won nine out of 11 starts, including six in a row.
Since being called up to take Woll’s position, Martin Jones has won seven of his last eleven games.
PLAYER STATS: If the Maple Leafs decide to send Joseph Woll Jones back to the AHL, he will need to clear waivers.
Toronto will play its first game back at home on Tuesday night against Vegas, the defending Stanley Cup champions.
Nichushkin is allowed to go to work.
Following treatment from the player assistance program, Valeri Nichushkin has been given the all-clear to start practicing with the Colorado Avalanche again.
The right-winger has entered the follow-up treatment phase, according to a Monday announcement from the NHL and NHL Players’ Association. He isn’t yet ready to start participating in games again.
Midway through January, the 28-year-old Russian player joined the joint league-union program. After teammate Samuel Girard, who returned to action approximately five weeks after entering it, he was the second player from Colorado to participate in it this season.
Evgeny Kuznetsov from Washington and Patrik Laine from Columbus are still on the show.

Colorado defenseman Cale Makar, whose team plays Dallas, the top team in the Central Division, on Tuesday night, said, “It’s awesome to see him around.” “It’s always mental health first, hockey second. In this room, we’re all buddies, and we have to stand by guys like that. Ultimately, we are a family, and we must provide for him.”
Nathan MacKinnon, a seasoned forward with the Avalanche, added: “Amazing player and great teammate. Anticipate his return to the starting lineup.”
In 40 games this season, Nichushkin has 42 points, 42 goals, and 42 assists. He needs two more games to complete his career with 500 regular-season games.
The team stated at the time that Nichushkin was absent from the squad throughout the playoffs due to personal reasons. The last five postseason games of the team’s first-round loss to Seattle were missed by him.
Millions are paid for hockey cards.
Once found in a Canadian residence, a case of vintage hockey cards thought to include the Great One has sold for more than $3.7 million US.
The winning bidder, according to Heritage Auctions, purchased a case containing sixteen sealed boxes containing over 10,000 hockey cards from O-Pee-Chee’s 1979 collection. According to the auctioneer, there could be up to 25 extremely sought-after Wayne Gretzky rookie cards in the case.
At auction, a case of unused 1979 Saskatchewan hockey cards fetches more than $5 million.
The case was maintained in a crammed storage room by a man in Regina, Saskatchewan. The lifelong collector requested to remain unidentified, according to the auctioneer.
