Taylor Swift could potentially generate over $1 billion for the NFL if she accepts their offer to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, although she wouldn’t receive any payment for her performance.
Reports indicated that Swift declined a similar opportunity to perform at Super Bowl LVIII, where her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, emerged victorious over the San Francisco 49ers. Instead, Swift opted to watch the game with her loved ones from an executive suite, having just returned from Japan as part of her ongoing “Eras Tour.”
Nevertheless, the NFL is reportedly eager to persuade Swift to perform at the next Super Bowl in New Orleans. Her involvement could potentially increase Super Bowl advertising prices by an additional $1 million, considering that previous advertisements already cost $7.5 million.
According to an unnamed source cited by The US Sun, Swift’s presence at this year’s Super Bowl is estimated to have contributed to generating between $700-750 million. If she headlines the halftime show next year, it is anticipated to generate over $1.3-1.5 billion.
However, despite the immense potential revenue, Swift would not be compensated for her performance, as per league rules. The NFL covers all production costs and travel expenses for performers.
With the possibility of the Kansas City Chiefs vying for a third consecutive Super Bowl appearance next year, alongside Swift’s potential performance, the season’s final showdown could become the “biggest sports event ever broadcasted in America,” with an expected viewership of over 140 million.
The Chiefs, led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, are aiming to reach the final game of the 2024 season in New Orleans and potentially achieve a historic three-peat, a feat never before accomplished in NFL history. Mahomes acknowledged the significance of such an achievement, stating, “It would be legendary. No one’s ever done it, and we knew it’s legendary to win back-to-back. I think eight other teams have done it.”
