Rangers may have to endure the absence of Colombian winger Oscar Cortes for as long as three months due to a muscle injury, as indicated by Stevie Clifford, the individual behind Four Lads Had a Dream.
Clifford, known for his close ties to the club, revealed this information while speaking on the Rangers Review’s Morning Briefing on March 4th. Four Lads Had a Dream, a popular fan media outlet, holds significant influence in the Ibrox club’s media landscape, and Clifford is highly respected for his knowledge of all things related to Rangers.
This news will undoubtedly disappoint Rangers, their supporters, and Cortes himself, especially considering his promising start at Ibrox.
Clifford addressed the matter following Rangers’ disappointing 2-1 defeat to Motherwell over the weekend, suggesting that the club’s unfortunate streak of injuries has finally caught up with them. With several key players sidelined from midfield to attack, Cortes could potentially be facing a 12-week absence due to his injury.
“You receive that setback with the Oscar Cortes news just before the game against Motherwell,” Clifford remarked.
“At the moment, it feels like in world football, we’re the only club where a player can walk off holding his hamstring, indicating he’s fine, only to later discover he could be sidelined for three months.”
“It feels like our string of bad luck with injuries has finally caught up with us, especially considering the lackluster performance on Saturday,” added Clifford.
Rangers manager Philippe Clement had refrained from providing a specific timeline for the injury, which he had described as “severe” ahead of the Kilmarnock match.
Indicating that he would provide a more detailed update after consulting with a specialist and the parent club RC Lens, the prognosis does not appear optimistic.
At just 20 years old, we are confident that Oscar Cortes will recover from the injury in due course. However, it undoubtedly represents a significant setback for this season’s objectives and aspirations.

Oscar Cortes emerged as a direct and talented option on the flank, quickly settling alongside fellow January signings Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande.
Initially signed on a loan-to-buy deal from French Ligue 1 club RC Lens, who acquired him from FC Millonarios for a reported £3.8 million in the summer, Cortes’ injury situation raises questions about any potential permanent transfer.
With the projected timeline extending until late May, there’s uncertainty regarding the activation of the purchase option or the possibility of another loan deal. This uncertainty suggests that Cortes may have already played his final game for Rangers.
During his time at the club, Cortes made seven appearances, contributing with one goal and two assists.
