Cam abruptly left the game in the first quarter after tripping during his three-point attempt.
The Brooklyn Nets are severely shorthanded going into their big game on Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers due to the injuries to Ben Simmons (nerve impingement), Day’Ron Sharpe (wrist), and Cam Thomas (ankle).
Even though they ultimately prevailed 112-107 at home, they were unable to withstand yet another setback when Cam Johnson appeared to have sprained his right ankle.
When did Cam get the injury to his ankle?
At 8:20 in the first quarter, Cam hurt his ankle after he landed awkwardly after Kyle Lowry attempted a three-point shot. Johnson slid down and gripped his ankle plainly in pain as he finished the four-point play from the veteran after draining the three-point shot.
Johnson stayed at the game for a little while longer, but when the team’s medical staff checked his ankle after he was substituted out with 6:55 remaining in the game, he went to the dugout. With 3:16 left in the first quarter, he made his way back into the game, but he was clearly hobbling and had trouble planting his right foot.
After the 28-year-old finished the game with 6 points on 2-of-4 shooting in 8 minutes of action, the Nets decided to bench him for the rest of the second period.
Ending the night with 6 points in 2-of-4 shooting for 8 minutes of play, The Nets have ultimately deactivated the 28-year-old for the remainder of the ball game during the second frame.
