Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Will Vaulks has revealed what kept him awake on Sunday night following Barry Bannan’s charity event. The event, organized by Bannan in his new role as ambassador for The Children’s Hospital Charity, featured a Q&A session, music from Jon McClure, and a three-course meal at the Mercure St Paul’s Hotel & Spa, hosted by Steve Bracknall. Vaulks, along with other players including Dominic Iorfa, Josh Windass, Liam Palmer, Cameron Dawson, Callum Paterson, and Michael Smith, attended to support their captain.

During the event, manager Danny Rohl was greeted with a surprise as attendees sang his name to the tune of Boney M’s ‘Daddy Cool’ when he took to the stage. This unexpected serenade left a lasting impression on both the fans and the players, with Vaulks admitting that he couldn’t shake off the song from his head for hours, causing him difficulty in falling asleep.
Reflecting on the experience after Sheffield Wednesday’s win against Plymouth Argyle, Vaulks acknowledged the impact of the chant, stating, “Once it’s in your head you’re struggling, aren’t you? Yeah, from that the other night, I couldn’t sleep for about two hours because I couldn’t get it out of my head!” He also expressed confidence that if the team avoids relegation, fans will continue to sing the song in Rohl’s honor for years to come.
Rohl’s influence on the squad has been significant, with his transformational impact recognized by both players and fans alike. Despite a challenging start to the season, Rohl has instilled a sense of belief in the team, giving them hope of avoiding relegation. Regardless of the outcome, Rohl has cemented his place in Sheffield Wednesday history, earning the adoration of supporters at Hillsborough.
