Any uncertainty regarding who holds the reins on West Ham’s transfers this summer between Tim Steidten and David Moyes is swiftly dissipating.
The club is already being linked with numerous summer transfer targets, while Moyes’ future as West Ham’s manager remains uncertain.
It’s been explicitly stated that Tim Steidten, the Hammers’ technical director, will assume full control of recruitment from the upcoming summer transfer window onwards. Previously, Moyes possessed a power of veto over transfers according to his existing contract, but it seems likely that his influence will be reduced in favor of Steidten.
Recent developments suggest that Steidten’s new contract terms, should he sign one, would likely strip Moyes of his transfer veto power and diminish his involvement in recruitment decisions, handing ultimate authority to Steidten.
Steidten’s influence has already been demonstrated by his appointments of Moritz Steidten and Max Hahn to the scouting department, indicating his intention to stay at West Ham and exercise control over transfers.
Despite being three months away from the summer transfer window, West Ham has been linked with several promising players, a sign of Steidten’s proactive approach.
One such example is the reported interest in Chris Fuhrich, a 26-year-old midfielder currently impressing at Stuttgart. Fuhrich’s versatility and strong performances make him an attractive prospect, especially given West Ham’s potential need to fill a void on the left-hand side left by Lucas Paqueta’s expected departure to Manchester City.

Fuhrich’s release clause, valued between £17-21 million, adds weight to the speculation, with Stuttgart reportedly concerned about losing him amid West Ham’s interest.
Steidten’s assertiveness in pursuing players like Fuhrich underscores his authority in transfer dealings, a message directed not only at Moyes but to the broader footballing community.
In addition to the Fuhrich pursuit, Steidten is reportedly in discussions to sign a promising Belgian player and is eyeing 21-year-old English left-back Archie Brown, currently playing for Gent.
