BREAKING: The long-serving Sheffield Wednesday veteran believed that survival would triumph over both The Miracle and Wembley.

According to a man at the center of the fight, Sheffield Wednesday’s ability to maintain their Championship status would be an accomplishment greater than anything that occurred the previous season.
Vice captain Liam Palmer of the Owls began Friday night’s edge-out against Leeds United in the middle of midfield and has since emerged as a key player in their comeback in the survival struggle, giving manager Danny Röhl the flexibility to adjust his strategy as needed. When Wednesday travels to promotion-chasing Ipswich Town this weekend, they are only one point outside of the safety zones.
Palmer, who won his second player of the season award for an outstanding campaign in which he scored the goal that sent their historic play-off semi-final against Peterborough United into extra time, and who put on a strong display in the Wembley final, was largely responsible for their promotion to the second tier last season.
Palmer, a lifelong Wednesday fan, thinks that survival would be a greater accomplishment than even those moments following the team’s appalling start to the season, which saw them survive the shame of their worst-ever start to a league campaign.
“We always knew the task we had once we’d had that start,” he stated. “The beginning was obviously unacceptable. However, now that we have a new manager and have proven our abilities, we truly believe in ourselves. It’s good to play nice football and do our best right now more than ever. There will be moments when no team will help us and we must stand up with our backs to the wall.
“Achieving the feat of remaining awake would rank highly. The honors and the whole playoff experience, including the victory at Wembley, are memories that will last a lifetime. Although it was an amazing and unforgettable moment, considering all of the effort and sacrifice it took to bring us there, we would need to double up to ensure that we make it into the division and maintain our position after our strong start. That would most likely be my greatest accomplishment to date.”
