Without a doubt, Brenden Aaronson had hoped to contribute as the United States attempts to win the Concacaf Nations League again.
Brenden Aaronson, a Leeds United loanee, is not included on this month’s US roster. This month, as they vie for the Concacaf Nations League championship, the USA have a chance to win some hardware.
On March 21, Gregg Berhalter’s team plays Jamaica in the semi-finals. The victor advances to the championship match, which is held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and faces either Mexico or Panama. With Aaronson’s assistance, the US won the previous Nations League championship last summer, and they currently possess the trophy.
They have decided to go into the competition’s final phases without him this
this time, though, since it seems that his form issues at Union Berlin are hurting him. Since making his international debut in 2020, Aaronson has been a mainstay for the Stars and Stripes, and even though he had a difficult season with Leeds, he was still a part of the starting lineup.
But Berhalter has decided to leave the midfield player out of his 23-man roster after witnessing him struggle to establish himself over an extended period of time with Union in the Bundesliga. Aaronson will be devastated by this, especially because the United States will be competing in both the Copa America and the Olympics later this year.
The Leeds player will be itching to compete in both events, but following his most recent disappointment, he has
tasks to complete.
However, it’s interesting to note that Berhalter decided to call up former Leeds player Tyler Adams for the first time since the 2022 World Cup. Adams had a hamstring injury when playing for Leeds in March of last year, and he has only played 39 minutes of competitive football in the last 12 months.
After suffering an injury shortly after making his Bournemouth debut in September, he missed a significant amount of time again before making his league debut for the Cherries on Wednesday night, coming off the substitute for 19 minutes against Luton Town.
This choice was essentially the result of months of communication between his club and himself to monitor his progress, his training levels, and the loads that
Regarding Adams’ choice, Berhalter stated, “He’s doing and training.”
And then, two days ago, he finally had a talk with his coach. After hearing from the coach about Tyler’s performance, which he believes to be at a high level, the coach was full of praise for Tyler. Without a doubt, the club believes he has enough to play for us for up to 45 minutes.
“So once we heard that, we leaped at that concept because he represents so much to the team, both on and off the field. It’ll be good to get him back. It will be good to have him back in this group as he has been missed since the World Cup, when he last played for his country.”
