Florian Wirtz’s decision to remain at Bayer Leverkusen past this summer is expected to deal a serious damage to Man City’s summer preparations.

The Daily Star stated that the Premier League winners had been keeping an eye on the young German midfielder for some time and dispatched scouts to watch him play against Bayern Munich earlier this month.

Although Wirtz is valued at £80 million, the Manchester United team was hoping to sign him this summer. However, Wirtz’s father has revealed that the 20-year-old will remain with the Bundesliga leaders once this summer’s transfer market closes.

Florian Wirtz is among Europe’s most gifted individuals.
Since making his debut for Bayer Leverkusen in 2020, Wirtz has emerged as one of Europe’s most fascinating players, so it is easy to understand why Man City wants him.

The German player has been crucial to Leverkusen’s success this season as Xabi Alonso’s team looks to win three titles. The midfield player has made 31 appearances, tallying an amazing 17 assists in addition to eight goals.

Based on his father’s statements, it appears that Wirtz will remain in Germany until 2026; it is unclear if Man City will still be interested in him at that point.
