The Green Bay Packers have parted ways with several key players over the past few seasons, with Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams’ trades in consecutive offseasons grabbing the headlines. However, during the 2023 offseason and season itself, the Packers bid farewell to several veterans.

One of these veterans has recently secured a new contract with a different team.

According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, the Buffalo Bills are taking steps to manage their salary cap. Alongside releasing safety Jordan Poyer, cornerback Siran Neal, and offensive lineman Mitch Morse, the Bills are planning to restructure cornerback Rasul Douglas’ contract. This move, as reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN, is expected to save the Bills approximately $2.5 million against their salary cap.

Former Green Bay Packers Star Gets Significant New Contract

Douglas, who played nine games with eight starts after being traded from Green Bay, showcased his talent with the Bills, recording four interceptions, eight passes defensed, 29 tackles, and a sack.

Just before the 2023 NFL Trade Deadline, the Packers traded cornerback Rasul Douglas to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a 2024 third-round draft pick. The trade drew some scrutiny at the time due to the Packers’ thin secondary, a situation that persisted into the following offseason.

Despite initial doubts, Douglas quickly made an impact on the Bills’ defense, earning a starting role in their talented secondary.

Although the Bills parted ways with multiple defensive backs this offseason, they chose to retain the 29-year-old defender, recognizing his contributions to their team.
