A journalist has given us a big Flynn Downes update, and we now know if he will play for West Ham once more.

Flynn Downes, who is owned by West Ham United, is presently spending the season on loan at Southampton.

During his loan period at St. Mary’s, Flynn Downes has been playing well for Southampton. Russell Martin, the manager of the Saints, has been quite impressed with the midfield player and has called him “outstanding.”
The former Swansea City player was clearly overlooked by Hammers manager David Moyes for his midfield this season.

That makes sense because, to be honest, I don’t think Downes is ready for the greatest level of English football.

But I fail to see why we allowed him to go on loan last summer and didn’t sign defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips until January, when the team was about to finish the season.

What has been completed is finished now, though, and it appears that he might end up at the London Stadium.
Evaluation of Flynn Downes’s West Ham future

Downes is surplus to needs at the London Stadium, according to Claret and Hugh, and West Ham is prepared to let go of the 25-year-old when the summer transfer window opens.
I’m not at all shocked by that. Although I have no problem with Downes as a player, he will never be able to contribute to a Premier League team in the top ten because of his lack of ability to make breakthrough passes.

In actuality, he only completed 43 progressive passes for West Ham in all competitions throughout the previous season (FBREF).

It is obvious that the midfielder is a very good Championship player, and he could

perform admirably for a Premier League team in the lower half as well.

Flynn Downes seemed to be enjoying his time at Southampton, so I predict that in the summer he will likely move there permanently from West Ham.

It’s unfortunate that the childhood Hammers fan’s experience at the London Stadium didn’t work out, but if he does decide to leave the team this summer, I’m sure he’ll have a successful career somewhere else.
