South Brisbane detectives have recently arrested and charged a 30-year-old woman from Kingston with murder in connection with the death of a three-month-old baby girl over 12 years ago.

The incident dates back to September 2, 2011, when paramedics responded to a call at a Redland Bay residence concerning an infant girl who was not breathing. The baby was rushed to Redland Bay Hospital and later transferred to Mater Children’s Hospital, where she tragically passed away on September 6, 2011.

Although the case was initially investigated, no conclusive determination was made at the time. However, in January 2024, new information came to light prompting authorities to launch Operation Whiskey Magra. This operation involved detectives from the Bayside Child Protection Investigation Unit (CPIU) and the Crime and Intelligence Command Child Trauma Unit.

Following their investigations, yesterday, the 30-year-old woman from Kingston was apprehended and formally charged with murder, classified as a domestic violence offense. She was denied police bail and is scheduled to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court today, March 9.
