According to writer Sam Byrne on X, the MK Dons are planning to recruit Stockport County native Connor Lemonheigh-Evans.
The winger’s contract with Stockport County is set to expire at the end of the next month, making MK Dons the front-runners to sign him on a free transfer. Throughout the first half of the previous season, he was on loan at AFC Wimbledon.

After receiving permission to temporarily join Johnnie Jackson’s team in September, 27-year-old Lemonheigh-Evans made 17 appearances for them across all competitions, contributing three goals. In January of that year, he made his way back to Edgeley Park and contributed to the Hatters’ promotion to League One.

Journalist Byrne of the Stockport Express reported on X that MK Dons are anticipated to sign him immediately, providing the most recent information on his future. Mike Williamson’s team, who ultimately lost to Crawley Town in the play-offs, is preparing for another season in League Two.

Lemonheigh-Evans may be seen by the Dons as a player who can strengthen their choices up top and provide them with greater depth and competition in attacking areas.

Recently, Stockport County stated on their retained list that they are still in negotiations with him regarding a new contract. But it looks like he’ll be leaving through the exit door with people like Paddy Madden, Neil Byrne, and Antoni Sarcevic.

The Hatters signed the Welshman in 2022 after they won the National League title and he has since played 59 matches for the North West outfit, scoring nine goals and gaining three assists. He also had a loan stint at Notts County during his first year.

Though he only made one first-team appearance for Bristol City as a young player, he began his career there. In order to gain experience, he had stints on loan with Bath City and Torquay United from Ashton Gate before joining the latter team permanently in 2020.

After that, Lemonheigh-Evans played with the Gulls for 166 games, making 30 appearances before being traded to Stockport County.

What happens to MK Dons next?
Next term, MK Dons intends to pursue promotion from the fourth tier once more.

Williamson’s men have a big few months ahead as they look to prepare for a push for the top three.

Lemonheigh-Evans would be a shrewd addition for them if they can get a deal over the line and knows what it takes to get promoted.
