The midfielder from Birmingham City draws inspiration from his fellow international midfielder.

Young talent Jordan James finds inspiration in his international teammate Ethan Ampadu, as the duo contribute to Wales’ advancement toward qualifying for Euro 2024. The Birmingham City teenager, who recently turned 20, partnered with Leeds United’s Ampadu in the midfield during Wales’ 4-1 victory over Finland, setting up a final play-off game against Poland. James, who was previously linked with Serie A club Atalanta, has become a consistent presence in the Welsh midfield alongside AmpaduAmpadu over the past six months.

Expressing his admiration for Ampadu, who earned his 50th cap at just 23 years old, James said, “Ethan’s a top player, I’m inspired to be like him. To get 50 caps at 23 is something that I want to do. Hopefully I can follow in his footsteps and have the career that he is going to have.”

As James prepares for his 10th cap against Poland, he reflects on his journey, admitting that playing at Euro 2024 was not even on his radar three years ago during the last European Championship. He recalls watching the tournament on TV with his parents and not considering the possibility of participating in the next one. Now, being on the verge of qualification feels surreal to him.

James emphasizes the importance of trust and unity within the team, highlighting the manager’s encouragement to believe in themselves and their abilities. Looking ahead to the crucial match against Poland, James underscores the significance of teamwork, hard work, and the support of the fans in achieving success on the field.
