Aaron Donald has disclosed that he came to the realization he was done with football shortly after the Los Angeles Rams’ playoff loss to the Detroit Lions in January, in a retirement video shared on social media.

In the video posted to his X (Twitter) account on Wednesday, Donald, who earned first-team All-Pro honors eight times in his 10 seasons, expressed his sense of fulfillment and lack of desire to continue playing in the NFL at the age of 32.

“Went to two Super Bowls. Won one, lost one. I’m complete. I’m full,” stated the now-retired defensive tackle.

He further explained, “I think the passion to play the game is no longer there for me. I will always love football, but to think about going through another camp and another 17-game season, I just don’t got the urge to want to push myself to do that no more.”

Throughout his career, Donald amassed impressive statistics, recording 111 sacks and 543 tackles in 154 games (150 starts) since being drafted by the Rams with the 13th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft out of Pittsburgh.

Coach Sean McVay confirmed that Donald used the words “I’m full” when informing the franchise of his decision to retire.

Donald hinted at an upcoming video in his online statement, indicating that more details may be revealed soon.
