Aaron Rodgers and the NFL Draft are affected by the New York Jets signing.

Tyron Smith, an eight-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle who departed the Dallas Cowboys after 13 years with the team, has signed with the New York Jets as a statement of intent.

Aaron Rodgers may be pleased with the signing of offensive lineman Tyron Smith by the New York Jets for two reasons. Smith is an eight-time Pro Bowler. According to ESPN, 34-year-old Smith has agreed to a one-year contract to join the Jets at MetLife Stadium after 13 years with the Dallas Cowboys.

He will play opposite quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was sidelined for the entire 2017 campaign due to injury, on a revamped offensive line. Right tackle Morgan Moses and left guard John Simpson were signed before him.

After a poor 2023 campaign, Jets coach Robert Saleh is hoping Smith—one of the most recognized players in his position over the past ten years—can revitalize the offensive line. The Jets were 28th in the NFL last season with 64 sacks allowed.

Smith’s $20 million (£15.7 million) one-year deal might work out well, particularly since he might be the ideal blindside defender for Aaron Rodgers. Given his inconsistent injury history, there are questions about the former Cowboys favorite’s ability to remain healthy in 2024.

He demonstrated his abilities as one of the best left tackles in the NFL in 2023 by starting 14 games. He did, however, miss three games due to a history of knee pain that dates back eight years. Smith hasn’t participated in a full season of play since 2015.

Popular in the 2024 draft, Brock Bowers is one name that sticks out. Los Angeles Chargers (fourth pick), Tennessee Titans (seventh pick), and Chicago Bears (ninth pick) have expressed interest. The tight end, who played well for Georgia throughout his collegiate career, may also be under consideration by the Jets (tenth selection).

In 2021, he was named SEC Freshman of the Year. As one of the best college tight ends, he was twice awarded the John Mackey Award.
