In a dramatic encounter, second-placed AC Milan twice staged comebacks from two goals down to salvage a 3-3 draw against relegation-threatened Sassuolo in Serie A on Sunday. Despite Sassuolo’s early lead with goals from Andrea Pinamonti and Armand Lauriente, Milan fought back with goals from Rafael Leao and Luka Jovic. Substitute Noah Okafor sealed the draw with a late equalizer in the 84th minute.

Milan’s head coach Stefano Pioli expressed frustration despite his team’s efforts, citing missed chances and fine saves from Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli. Pioli also emphasized the upcoming Europa League quarter-final return leg against AS Roma and the crucial derby match against Inter Milan on April 22, which could potentially secure Inter’s league title.

Reflecting on the match, Pioli acknowledged Sassuolo’s early dominance but praised his team’s resilience in fighting back. He highlighted the importance of maintaining their performance level for future matches, particularly the Europa League clash with Roma.

The late equalizer spared Milan’s blushes and provided them with a slender advantage ahead of their Europa League fixture. Pioli remains optimistic about their chances against Roma, expecting a balanced encounter if Milan can perform to their usual standard.
