Olivier Giroud, France’s leading goal scorer, has reportedly reached an agreement with Los Angeles FC to join the Major League Soccer club this summer, according to sources close to the player.

The 37-year-old, whose contract with AC Milan ends this season, is set to sign an 18-month deal with the Californian club starting from August 1, as reported in France.

LAFC will mark the eighth club for Giroud over his two-decade-long career. He began at Grenoble, then played for Istres and Tours before achieving success with Montpellier, where he won the Ligue 1 title in 2012.

Giroud then spent nine seasons in England, representing Arsenal from 2012 to 2018 and later moving to London rivals Chelsea, where he clinched the Champions League trophy in 2021. His transfer to Italy in 2021 resulted in winning the Serie A title with Milan the following year.

With 57 goals in 131 appearances, Giroud holds the record for the highest number of goals scored for the French national team.

At LAFC, Giroud will reunite with his close friend and former national team captain Hugo Lloris, who retired from international football after France’s defeat to Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final.
