According to a source, OG Anunoby will sign a five-year contract with the New York Knicks.
NEW YORK According to a source with knowledge of the negotiations, OG Anunoby has agreed to a five-year, over $200 million deal extension with the New York Knicks.
The Knicks prioritized holding onto the swingman since they performed better when Anunoby was starting after he was acquired from Toronto in December.
ESPN broke the story first, estimating Anunoby’s deal to be worth $212.5 million. Because the contract is not yet public, the person who verified the information to The Associated Press did so under the condition of anonymity.
The agreement to trade Mikal Bridges to the Knicks from the Brooklyn Nets was reached the day before.
Anunoby helped the Knicks go 20-3 throughout the regular season. In the Eastern Conference semifinals, they led Indiana 2-0 before he was forced to miss the next four games due to a hamstring injury. Anunoby made an effort to come back in Game 7, but he was still injured and exited the Knicks’ final loss early.
