Alabama football is looking to revamp its wide receiver unit in 2024, and Germie Bernard is expected to contribute to that effort. The former Washington player expressed to ESPN his intention to commit to his former coach Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide during a visit on Sunday night. Bernard officially confirmed his decision via social media, and he still has two years of eligibility remaining.

Hailing from Las Vegas, Nevada, Bernard started seven games for the Huskies in the previous season. He demonstrated his versatility by catching 34 passes for 419 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, he contributed as a rusher, carrying the ball 13 times for 43 yards and scoring two more touchdowns. Bernard also showcased his skills as a kick returner, averaging 23.3 yards per touch.

Germie Bernard, a four-star prospect from the class of 2022, earned recognition as the Gatorade Player of the Year in Nevada for 2021. Initially committed to UW, he later secured release from his national letter of intent and joined Michigan State. As a freshman for the Spartans, Bernard returned six kicks before transferring to the Huskies.

This marks the second addition to Alabama’s roster over the weekend and the second from Coach DeBoer’s previous program. Offensive lineman Parker Brailsford committed on Saturday, securing the position of the new center for Alabama. Additionally, freshman quarterback Austin Mack transferred on January 18.

Alabama has faced the departure of several key pass-catchers through the transfer portal and the NFL Draft. Kobe Prentice is set to return as the leading receiver this spring, having accumulated 18 catches for 314 yards. Isaiah Bond, known for his pivotal reception in the Iron Bowl, opted for Texas after Coach Nick Saban’s retirement.
