The creators of the popular television show “Drive to Survive” have announced that they will be releasing a docuseries on some of the best NHL players. Former Sabres center Jack Eichel is one of the players on the 11-name list that has been made public. The series will be available on Amazon Prime Video and will feature a star-studded cast. Here’s an excerpt from the announcement, as reported by ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski:

“The series will feature in-depth interviews with key players, their rivals and those in their closest inner circle – teammates, coaches, and family. The series will also reveal what life on-and-off the ice is really like for the league’s top players. From the quiet reflective moments to the speed and intensity of being on hockey’s biggest stage – revealing the talent, grit, and sacrifice it takes to make it in the NHL. Superstar players followed in the series include Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid; Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk; New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba; Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl; Boston Bruins teammates David Pastrnak and Jeremy Swayman; Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes; Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel; Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander; Nashville Predators forward Filip Forsberg; and Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog, among others.”

The NHL documentary series has no definite release date. The fact that the television teams are still following Tkachuk and McDavid in the Stanley Cup Final contributes to this in part.

Following his contentious exit from the Sabres, Buffalo supporters may be interested in learning more about Eichel’s daily activities and social circle. If executed properly, the series ought to provide a clearer understanding of the Vegas Golden Knights star’s character.

Fans of the Sabres should also have some understanding of what they lost out on in 2015 by failing to win the draft lottery. According to everyone, McDavid is the epitome of a professional.

The always entertaining Tkachuk, the hard-hitting Rangers captain Trouba, and the difficult path Landeskog’s Avs captain has had to recover from his injuries are some more intriguing themes.
