In relation to the tragic shooting in Sheffield that claimed Kevin Pokuta’s life, police have made a noteworthy arrest.

Just over two months have passed since the father of two, Kevin, passed away, and investigators are still trying to piece together what happened and identify the people who did it.

Early on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in the early hours of the day, Kevin was shot on Page Hall Road in Sheffield. After being brought to the hospital, he passed away the next day in spite of the medical staff’s best attempts.

A 22-year-old man was taken into custody yesterday, Friday, February 23, shortly before 3:30 p.m. on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, robbery conspiracy, and firearm possession with the purpose to endanger life. He’s still being held by the cops.

With this arrest, there have now been eleven arrests made in relation to the murder investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Bowell, a senior investigating officer, stated: “We think this man’s arrest is significant in relation to Kevin’s murder.”

“A number of individuals bear responsibility for the actions that preceded Kevin’s death and were personally involved in them. Kevin’s fatal injuries were caused by a single gunshot. We believe we now know who that person is, and we’ll keep assembling evidence.

“We anticipate making more arrests. Four women and six males were previously detained on suspicion of aiding an offender and murder, respectively. They are all still being held on police bail, but we think that by apprehending this suspect, more evidence will come to light and justice for Kevin and his family will be done.

“We know that there were individuals in the area and that the local community is aware of what happened, even if it was late at night. This is a complicated study that is still going on. Anyone with even the tiniest piece of information is urged to come forward, as it could significantly impact the inquiry.
