A Liverpool player, often overlooked, has experienced a remarkable 11-fold increase in market value over the past year, despite his limited playing time for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season.

The departure of key players like Fabinho, Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, and Roberto Firmino prompted adjustments to Liverpool’s midfield and attack during the summer. New additions such as Alexis Mac Allister, Dominic Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo seamlessly integrated into the squad, contributing to Liverpool’s current position at the top of the Premier League table in 2024.

Amidst these changes, 19-year-old midfielder Stefan Bajcetic had a breakthrough earlier in 2023, featuring in eight consecutive Premier League games before sustaining an adductor injury. Since then, he has seen limited playing time.

Despite his extended absence, Bajcetic’s market value has soared from €1 million (£860,000) at the beginning of 2023 to €11 million (£9.5 million) according to Transfermarkt.

Bajcetic, who joined Liverpool’s youth setup from Celta Vigo in 2021, made his first-team debut in August 2022. He has featured twice this season in the Carabao Cup and Europa League, missing the last 22 games due to a calf issue.

Assistant manager Pep Lijnders has provided a positive update, indicating that Bajcetic, along with fellow midfielder Thiago Alcantara, is expected to return to training in February. This comeback aligns with the return of the Europa League and the crucial phase of the season.
