Another Parramatta player may be heading out as Ryles’ rebuilding efforts put underperforming players on alert.

Bryce Cartwright has voiced his strong desire to remain with Parramatta despite having no assurances from the incoming coach, Jason Ryles, about his future.

Ryles, who began his role with the Eels after leaving Melbourne, is tasked with addressing the club’s salary cap issues and possibly moving on some of the team’s highest-paid players.

Amidst speculation about players like Ryan Matterson, Reagan Campbell-Gillard, and Maika Sivo potentially leaving, Cartwright finds himself in a similar uncertain position.

The back-rower, who revitalized his career under the previous coach Brad Arthur, has yet to receive any communication from Ryles regarding his status for the upcoming season.

Cartwright expressed his commitment to the team, focusing on the remaining games of the season despite the uncertainty. He remains hopeful for a positive conclusion to the year and is not surprised by the lack of contact from Ryles, noting that he will be contacted if needed.

The situation is further complicated by scrutiny over the Eels’ long-term deal with five-eighth Dylan Brown. Brown’s contract includes an option to extend until 2031, but he has struggled with injuries and has connections to Arthur, who may join a potential Perth franchise. Brown emphasized that his contract includes favorable clauses and reassured that concerns about his future are unnecessary.
