Following shoulder surgery, quarterback Anthony Richardson of the Indianapolis Colts seems to be on schedule to participate in spring practice.

Anthony Richardson, a quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, was the team’s first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Despite harsh criticism for not getting more playing time in college, Richardson made an impression in his first season before sustaining a season-ending shoulder injury early in the year.
Head coach Shane Steichen disclosed during the league meetings on Monday that the signal-caller is now recovering and should be ready to participate in spring practice. After a cursory look last year, Steichen also voiced his confidence about what Richardson may achieve as a QB

“I believe he’ll be okay to

In the spring, practice, said Steichen. “I can’t wait to get him going again, but obviously we have to watch it, keep it within reason, and limit it.

“The small sample size he had over those initial five weeks was impressive. He made certain plays, honestly, that I’ve never seen guys do.

Anthony Richardson’s first-year campaign
Richardson, who put on a show at his Florida Pro Day and even hit the roof with a ball, was unquestionably the most physically gifted quarterback in the 2023 class. His arm strength is extraordinary. Additionally, Richardson proved in the league that he is a formidable player despite playing little in college as the starting guard for the Gators, even if it was

a tiny number of samples.

In four games, the 21-year-old finished with a record of 2-2 while completing 60% of his throws for 577 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Additionally, he averaged 5.4 yards per carry while running for 136 yards and four touchdowns. Coming out of college, Richardson was viewed as a dual-threat quarterback because of his impressive running abilities.

Richardson’s shoulder injury sustained in Week 5 sadly kept him from playing in 23′, but the Colts and Steichen are thrilled with what they’ve seen thus far. Richardson started a throwing program last month, and general manager Chris Ballard stated that Indianapolis will exercise extreme caution when it comes to their franchise quarterback given what happened to Andrew Luck.

“Very pleased with where he is at,” Ballard remarked. “He’s in a rehab program; he started throwing.” I experienced the last one, and from it, I gained a great deal of knowledge (with Andrew Luck). Please pardon me for being a

a little circumspect.

“… our role is to take the lead in order to ensure that we adhere to the physicians’ recommendations and don’t go overboard. But he’s got a terrific throwing regimen, he’s throwing well, and he has good people working with him. We’ll take it from there. I’m encouraged by where he is and where he is headed.

Colts’ time to sign free agents
The Colts are obviously focusing on Anthony Richardson. Although the team hasn’t made many moves in free agency just yet, they did add Joe Flacco, 39, who will serve as an excellent mentor for their developing, versatile quarterback. Along with signing DT Raekwon Davis, Indianapolis also stopped WR Michael Pittman Jr. onon a new agreement, a crucial tool for Richardson going ahead.
