Arizona strengthens its defensive backfield with the addition of junior college safety Marquis Brown, who announced his commitment to the Wildcats via Instagram late Monday night.

Standing at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 200 pounds, Brown hails from Golden West Community College in Huntington Beach, California.

He opted for Arizona over several other offers, including Washington State, UTSA, UConn, North Carolina State, and Houston, following an official visit last week.

Ranked as the 64th-best junior college prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle by 247Sports.com’s composite rankings, Brown, originally from Portland, Oregon, recorded impressive stats during his lone season at Golden West Community College, tallying 62 tackles and five interceptions. Notably, this college also produced former UA and NFL offensive lineman Glenn Parker.

While Arizona has four defensive secondary starters returning, there are several inexperienced players vying for playing time.

Additionally, veteran defensive back DJ Warnell has entered the transfer portal but remains undecided, continuing to practice with the team.
