Arizona football had 17 available scholarship positions and a roster featuring only three quarterbacks, two of whom were scholarship players. In a post-practice interview, head coach Brent Brennan mentioned the staff’s intention to enhance depth at the quarterback position.

On Sunday night, the Wildcats fulfilled this goal by securing San Jose State transfer Anthony Garcia, thereby increasing their quarterback count to four.

Not stopping there, Arizona continued to bolster its roster by adding tight end Sam Olson from San Jose State early Monday morning. Olson, who played under Brennan for the past three seasons, further strengthens the team’s lineup.

Garcia, standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 192 pounds, is a player yet to make his college debut, but his addition provides valuable depth to the quarterback position. As a high school recruit, he received offers from Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The acquisition of Olson further strengthens Arizona’s roster, adding another player with experience under both Brennan and tight ends coach Matt Adkins. During his tenure at San Jose State, Olson accumulated 594 receiving yards on 45 catches, averaging 13.2 yards per reception. He also secured six touchdowns, three of which were scored last season with the Spartans.

With these additions, the Wildcats now have 15 scholarships remaining as the coaching staff continues to finalize the 2024 roster before the fast-paced training camp begins with the season approaching.
