Austin Ekeler provided a sincere justification for leaving the Chargers.

“The Chargers approached me and essentially informed me of their considerations for the running back position, which does not align with my skill set as a player. “A misalignment occurred,” Ekeler stated. They are intrigued, for sure, but are you really? Is there a way to pull Austin back in if everything else fails? Since I don’t want to find myself in that situation. I need to seek elsewhere if that’s your worldview and what you’re telling me, and I don’t fit that.

Ekeler had been dissatisfied with the outcome of last year’s contract negotiations, so his problems with the Chargers had persisted for some time. According to Ekeler’s explanation, the team also brought in a new regime this offseason, who appears to have a different idea of what the role should involve.

Ekeler is coming off a disappointing campaign in which he gained 5 touchdowns and 628 running yards. As Gus Edwards takes over his position in Los Angeles, he is ready to make a comeback with the Commanders.
