BAD NEWS: West Ham United legend Michail Antonio is currently sidelined with an injury and may not return until he has fully recovered.

It appears that West Ham United missed out on a significant opportunity by not signing Viktor Gyökeres last summer. Despite manager David Moyes being reportedly interested in the striker, the club ultimately decided against bringing in a new forward.

Gyökeres ended up joining Sporting for a fee of around €21.5 million (£18 million), a move that has proven to be a bargain for the Portuguese club. Since then, the Swedish striker has been in exceptional form, with an impressive record of 32 goals and 11 assists in 36 games across all competitions.

With an £85 million release clause in his contract, Gyökeres has become an attractive target for top clubs around Europe, making any potential future transfer unlikely for West Ham.

Given Gyökeres’ qualities as a powerful, hard-working, and clinical striker, it’s clear that he could have been a valuable addition to West Ham’s squad. However, the opportunity to sign him has now passed, and the club will have to look elsewhere for reinforcements.
