The West Virginia University baseball squad suffered a 10-4 defeat against Cincinnati at UC Baseball Stadium on Saturday. With this loss, the Mountaineers’ record stands at 28-17 overall and 15-8 in the Big 12, while the Bearcats now hold a 26-21 overall record and 12-11 in conference play.

Senior Reed Chumley was the lone offensive contributor for WVU, going 3-for-4 with two two-run homers, bringing his season total to 12, tying him with junior Kyle West for the team lead in home runs.

Although the game began with two scoreless innings, Cincinnati surged ahead in the third inning with four runs and added three more in the fifth. Chumley managed to hit his first home run in the seventh, but the Bearcats responded with two runs in the bottom half.

Following a 45-minute rain delay, Chumley smashed his second home run of the day in the eighth, a 440-foot shot over the left-center field cameras.

The series finale between the two teams is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
