Following a 4-2 start that gave the team what appeared to be very realistic playoff hopes at the beginning of the season, the Chicago Bears’ season has gone off the rails. Over the past three months, the Bears have been among the worst teams in the NFL, dropping to 4-12 after losing 10 straight games.

Keenan Allen was one of the players expected to step in and boost the Bears’ offense. Allen’s goal was to assist in moving the chains and provide rookie quarterback Caleb Williams with a simple path underneath. Nonetheless, Allen’s output for the Bears has fluctuated this season, prompting many to wonder if he will leave Chicago in free agency this offseason.

Although Allen has not ruled out rejoining the Bears, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that he is also interested in returning to Los Angeles, where his family still resides.

“The receiver, who will become a free agent after Sunday’s game, kept his family back at their home in Southern California after the Bears traded for him in March,” Finley wrote. “He said Friday he’d be open to playing for either the Chargers or Rams next year; if he decides to sign a new deal with the Bears, Allen said he’d at least consider moving his family to the Chicago area.”

Allen played for the Chargers in Los Angeles for the majority of his career, of course. Before being traded to the Bears prior to the 2024 season, he was a member of the team for 11 years, during its tenure in San Diego and Los Angeles. It would be reasonable for Allen to want to return home if the Bears are unable to find a suitable head coach for their next hire.

Allen would also be a great fit with the Rams if he chooses to go play for Sean McVay and company. Since McVay is an expert at utilizing his players to maximize their strengths, Allen would undoubtedly receive a lot of underlooks as a dependable first-down machine and route runner. Allen could be an interesting option because Matthew Stafford would love to have someone like him in addition to Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.
