Some pundits, including Garth Crooks, have suggested that West Ham fans pushed Moyes out of the London Stadium. However, I disagree. Moyes has overseen a significant decline at West Ham since the start of the year, with poor quality football being displayed. Defensive performance has been particularly disappointing, with the team conceding 71 goals this season, the highest in their Premier League history. Considering Moyes’s reputation as a defensively solid manager, this performance falls short. It was the right decision for the club to part ways with him, but we should still appreciate his achievements over the past four-and-a-half years, notably guiding the team to their first major trophy since 1980. While acknowledging his contributions, it’s also valid to recognize that he may not be the right fit for the next phase of the club’s development.

However, Moyes recently shared an incident that bothered me. After a heavy loss to Crystal Palace, he went out to sign autographs, but a fan approached him, dismissing their trophy win, claiming it meant nothing. This individual’s sentiment doesn’t reflect the majority of West Ham fans, who cherish that victory. It’s unclear if this person truly represents the fanbase or if they were merely trying to provoke a reaction. Regardless, Moyes’s departure should be met with gratitude for his efforts.
