According to a report by Turkish journalist Ezgi Alp on 18th April, Ipswich Town is reportedly close to securing the signing of Rangers star John Lundstram on a free transfer at the end of the season. Trabzonspor had shown interest in the 30-year-old midfielder, but it seems Ipswich, currently leading the English Championship, have moved ahead in the race for his signature.

Despite expectations that Lundstram would extend his stay at Ibrox, where he has been a key player under Philippe Clement this season, it’s now suggested that Ipswich has won the battle for his signature. This move comes despite Trabzonspor’s hesitation due to Lundstram’s high wage demands of £32,000 per week (£1.7 million per year).

As Rangers face a downturn in their season following disappointing results, the potential loss of Lundstram adds to their woes. Lundstram has been a pivotal figure under Clement, playing a significant role in midfield and being one of the club’s most consistent performers, with over 4,000 minutes played across all competitions. His departure would leave a notable gap in the squad and no transfer fee to aid in finding a replacement.
