For Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables and his team, securing the commitment of Trystan Haynes, a highly-rated four-star cornerback from Oklahoma City, is a major victory. Haynes cited the vibrant atmosphere and passionate fan base at Oklahoma as key factors in his decision.

Despite stiff competition from Texas A&M, Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami, and Alabama, the Sooners’ coaching staff played a pivotal role in convincing Haynes to stay close to home. Haynes specifically praised the relationships he built with Coach Valai and Coach Venables, highlighting their commitment to his development both on and off the field.

Haynes’ commitment significantly bolsters the Sooners’ recruiting class. Ranked as the No. 12 cornerback recruit in the 2025 class by 247Sports, he adds considerable talent to Venables’ rapidly rising 2025 recruiting class, currently ranked No. 4 nationally, trailing only Notre Dame, Ohio State, and LSU.
