Birmingham City Boss Reacts To Nasty Fan Criticism

Birmingham City squandered a significant opportunity to climb out of the relegation zone today after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town, leaving fans frustrated. With just one win in their last five league games, including a goalless draw with Rotherham United and today’s draw, the team is facing a looming threat of relegation to League One.

The decline started after John Eustace was dismissed in October when the club was in the play-off spots. Wayne Rooney’s tenure as his replacement worsened the situation. Now, Birmingham City sits one point below safety before a challenging match against Norwich City next weekend.

Fans expressed their discontent with chants of “you’re not fit to wear the shirt” after the match. Head coach Gary Rowett acknowledged the fans’ disappointment, citing the team’s poor away record as a contributing factor to their struggles.

“I understand it.

“I see the fans follow us in great numbers, in great voice, for great expense,” Rowett said.

“At this stage of the season, they see other teams winning games of football and there’s an expectation when you’re playing the two teams around us that you go and win one of the games.

“We deserve to be where we are and that’s really simple at this stage of the season. Our away form has been incredibly poor all season. You have to show a much better mentality away from home.”
