Birmingham City injury update and return dates

on

This season, Birmingham City’s treatment room is nearly vacant for the first time. In preparation for Southampton, Mark Venus wants to get Krystian Bielik back, while Alex Pritchard is scheduled to resume training today.

Due to a calf injury, Pritchard has only played 45 minutes since joining Blues from Sunderland in January. Pritchard is scheduled to train on Monday, according to interim manager Mark Venus.

“On Monday, Alex will go to training. That player will also be eligible for selection, according to Venus. George Hall is improving as well, but the Blues are being cautious with the 19-year-old.

“George is fit and has played some under-21 minutes,” Venus continued. George’s injury history means he is being developed a little bit more slowly.

Bielik was replaced in the starting lineup by Dion Sanderson, who had recovered from an ankle injury against Ipswich. Because of a groin ailment, Bielik was unable to play. Below, find the most recent information on the injured Blues players.

Krystian Bielik

Injury: Groin

Bielik started all seven of Blues’ prior games at center defense, thus his absence against Ipswich came as a surprise. Following the match, interim manager Venus stated, “Krystian has a minor groin injury.” Although the extent of Bielik’s injuries is unknown, it is not serious. We’re hoping he’ll be well enough to play next Saturday.

Potential return: Southampton, March 2

Alex Pritchard

Injury: Calf

January signing Pritchard is anticipated to make a comeback this weekend against Southampton after having to be replaced at halftime during his Blues debut against West Bromwich Albion.

Potential return: Southampton, March 2

Alfie Chang

Injury: Knee

Chang is anticipated to miss the entire season after suffering a severe ACL injury during a training session in August. In an effort to increase his fitness, the 21-year-old, who has since inked a new three-year contract, has been working out in the gym with the Blues’ physiotherapists and taking up cycling.

Potential return: TBA

George Hall

Injury: Hamstring

Hall has returned to training following a grueling ten months due to four different hamstring problems. Hall played 45 minutes for the Blues’ under-21 team against Fleetwood and is expected to return in the upcoming weeks.
