Birmingham City is one of the most successful youth programs in the EFL, and several of its prospects have made it into the St. Andrew’s first squad. Others who saw action in the younger ranks have attempted to get experience on loan.

Patterson, a midfielder with the Blues, appears to be on that path right now after completing a loan move.

The 20-year-old has temporarily connected with Rushall Olympic of the National League North, according to a Tuesday announcement from Birmingham City. The agreement will remain in effect until the sixth-tier season concludes on April 20th.

Patterson makes an effort to connect with Dales Lane, Rico Browne, and Callum Sullivan, his academy colleagues. It follows 26 excursions for the U21s this season.

When Patterson gets the chance to play frequently at the senior level, he will want to make an impression. He should be tried in the National League North, and since Rushall Olympic is headquartered in Walsall, he is close enough for Birmingham City academy officials to monitor his progress.

The young player’s contract with the Blues is about to expire, thus the move is timely. He has the chance to show the Championship club that he possesses the skills necessary to succeed at the senior level.

In addition, he might have the opportunity to attract the attention of suitors if he were to leave St. Andrew’s this summer.

Although Patterson is versatile in midfield, he typically plays as a no. 8 in the center of the field. He is also capable of playing as an offensive midfielder or out on the wings.
